Lude Press | Dr.Yan Talks: China’s July Power Consumption Tops One Trillion kWh, Data and Deception Reveal CCP’s Nuclear Buildup 8/23/2025

01|Chinese state media reports a massive surge in electricity consumption in July, exceeding one trillion kilowatt-hours
CCTV reported that nationwide electricity consumption in July surpassed one trillion kilowatt-hours, an 18% year-on-year increase, reaching 1.02 trillion kWh. This figure is striking—by comparison, the U.S. recorded year-on-year growth of less than 8%.

Why the surge in consumption? The official explanation cites three factors: unusually high summer temperatures, stable industrial production, and growth in new energy utilization. The report highlighted that residential electricity consumption in Henan, Shaanxi, and Shandong grew by 30% year-on-year. Yet these provinces lag economically behind the south; aside from a few large cities, most areas remain at a middle-income level, and many remote regions are still near the poverty line. How could household electricity consumption suddenly grow so dramatically?

Comparison with other countries:

  • In 2024, U.S. annual electricity consumption was 4.2 trillion kWh.
  • The EU-27 consumed 2.6–2.7 trillion kWh annually.
  • Japan consumed 1.2 trillion kWh annually.
China’s July consumption alone equaled a quarter of U.S. annual usage, roughly half of the EU’s, and the entirety of Japan’s annual consumption.

02|Where did all this electricity go?
After months of tariff wars, China’s economy is on the brink of collapse, with few orders, declining exports, and living standards far below those of developed nations. So where is such an enormous amount of electricity being used?

A sudden surge in power consumption points to: expansion of military-industrial nuclear programs, cascades of uranium enrichment centrifuges, plutonium extraction, and large-scale AI algorithm training—all of which require vast amounts of energy; along with major military experiments and even dirty-bomb development, which demand stable, massive power supplies. During the Cold War, America’s Oak Ridge and the Soviet Union’s Ural facilities consumed as much electricity as entire major cities.

03|U.S. intelligence agencies warn of China’s expanding nuclear arsenal
Numerous U.S. intelligence agencies have publicly stated that China’s capacity to produce nuclear warheads is increasing. The Pentagon projects that by 2030 China will possess over 1,000 operational nuclear warheads and is pursuing a much larger nuclear force—from low-yield precision strike missiles to intercontinental ballistic missiles with explosive yields in the multi-megaton range.

The Pentagon’s conclusion: under conditions of failed expansion and extreme strategic compression, China may be the first to resort to nuclear weapons.

armed-services.senate.gov 规模与节奏的变化同样可量化。 SIPRIBulletin of the Atomic Scientists Bulletin of the Atomic ScientistsU.S. armed-services.senate.govSIPRIU.S.
